1st try

I have found easy direction to make the bigger bows so I was playing yesterday. I think they turned out alright - the direction calls for wider ribbon but I made it with what I had. I was pretty please with the out come:

http://bowdesigns.50webs.com
This is the website I found the bow instructions. I am going to try the Tutu bow holder next.

I also learned how to make a purse today. I have to say there was a huge rush of joy when it all came together! I never thought I would be so proud of myself for learning to sew! It is fun! And since Mom has the tool itis pretty cheap also.

The kids had a great time helping MaMere plant the tomatoe and pepper plants. It was a great day.

LOOKS GOOD!

I went to the Dr today, he said my toe looks really good so I was released from the boot - sorta, I am either suppose to have my boot on or a tennis shoe. I have noticed that my toe hurts from not wearing the boot because of the pressure but he said it would get get better. I still have to take it easy for the next month. No bare feet just in case I stub my toe - he said I would shatter it again. SO I am happy!
We also went to see Jene today. Jaxon did really good at the dentist he let her look and use the pointy tool that checks for cavities (he had none) even KK let her count her teeth after seeing how Jaxon did it. Jene even painted his teeth with fluoride (no more trays you keep on and no more waiting an hour to drink something!) Yes she used a paint brush to brush it on - he did not like the taste but that was alright.
Here is a picture Erik took of KK - I thought it turned out super cute!

just another day

Not to much to update. We had a great weekend. The Labauves came in for a visit. Saturday we also had some Friends we knew from Va. come over, so we had a fun busy weekend with everyone. Sunday was spent cleaning up. We realized the kids have way to much stuff so we went through and got rid of a lot of things. Erik even steam cleaned the whole house!
We have been playing outside with this great weather! Today The kids and I hung out with the neighbors for a few hours - this is what I wanted in a neighborhood. I love it, we have great neighbors.
Now that things are slowing down a bit I am starting to think of KK's birthday and trying to figure out what I am going to do. I am thinking a BBQ but I am a little worried about the rain. So we will just have to see.
Like a said just another day nothing much just enjoying life!

He is in!

Jaxon recieved his letter today admitting him to St. Thesera's for Pre-K next year! One less thing to worry about now. I have to have the packet in next friday, because 17 page application was not enough information there is also a regisition packet to fill out.

I have 3 assignments for the freelance photography job I took with the newsletter from Erik's work. I am really excited because I will get paid by the hour for events I would be at anyway- Like the Easter Egg Hunt!! The editor made it sound like I will be getting a bunch of assignments. The editor lives in Metairie, so by hiring me she avoids the drive.

KK is doing great. She is still very busy loves her books, babies, and puzzles!

I also started working out my arms since I can not do anything on my foot. So we will see how long I can keep this up!

Did you see this one??

I found this on FoxNews

A photograph in a Times-Picayune report Wednesday on the New Orleans Police Department's new crime-fighting equipment has set off a wave of controversy.

In the photo, Mayor Ray Nagin is smiling and seems to be aiming an assault rifle at Police Superintendent Warren Riley.

A review of a video taken at the event shows that the camera captured a split second as the gun was being lowered that made it appear to be deliberately pointed at the chief," the paper wrote. "However, the mayor clearly did not deliberately point the gun at Riley."

More about the Toe

I'm sure you are getting sick of reading about my toe but here is the lastest update. The bone I thought was just fractured was actually shattered like I was told the first time, but the bones did not move so it is healing well. The dislocation is setting good so I was able to keep the splint off or may be the splint was left off because it cut 2 groves into the top of my toe! It looked GROSS today when they took the splint off. I took a picture but it is too gross to show. SO I am still in the walking boot, I go back in 2 weeks to take more x-rays. The Dr still wants me to sleep in the boot which I never did but now that the splint is off I have no way to protect it so I got a sleeping boot for some other foot problem to see if it protects it enough. He said all it will take is one wrong hit on my toe and everything we did would be undone - that was enough to scare me!

I made carrot cake cakeballs for for V-day he and the kids said they were really good. I used the candy melt instead of the almond bark.

early wishes

a little update

We have been very busy with everything going on. Life sucks with a broken toe. The walking cast sucks and really makes life a little hard. But over all we are doing really great.
KK is growing up da fast. Last night wanted to Potty on the potty so she got out of the tub and she actually went! Yeah - I just thought it was a fluke but then today she told Erik she want to sit on the potty and went again. So I am going to get a potty seat for down stairs - if she want to use it it will be there but I am not going to push it at all.
Jaxon got his 4 years shots and we have a red spot where they did the Dtap we have 2 more days before the nurse told us to bring him back in if it is still there - the web said the Dtap can cause red spots for 1 to 7 days. Still I don't like it. Besides that he is doing great.

Happy Mardi Gras

We had a great time over the Mardi Gras weekend. I was able to make it to 2 days. Sunday and Tuesday. It would have been better with out a broken foot but the kids had fun so that made it worth it!

Tree Skirt

Since I can not be up walking on my foot I have decided to finish some stuff. Here is the tree skirt Hallie made for me for Christmas. You are suppose to put hand prints each year but I decided to make the foot/hand angel instead. I finished outlining KK's hand so now I will start on Jaxon's - Just wanted to share.

more toe update

OK so I went to the Dr today and he really really hurt me!!! Not while I was there but now that is has been awhile all the messing with it - it hurts as bad as the day i did it. So let's see what I did to my toe

1- Fractured the second section (the one under the joint) but he said that looks good

2- dislocated the joint - which is the problem. right now I have it slinted and wrapped. I have to keep it like this for 2 weeks, I am in a walking boot which he wants me to sleep in (yeah not sure that is going to happen) After 2 weeks we will do more x-rays and see if the slint is working if not then they will have to go in and remove the joint and fuse or put a metal plate in - this is a one time deal. If I did the rod then later on I may need to have the joint removed and a metal plate put in.
3 - sprand the joint where your toe and foot meet - this is really painful now that the slint is on because it is pushing on it.

So that is that. Needless to say I am not a happy person right now. I HURT
Here are some pictures of the overkill walking boot:

Shattered Toe

I finally went to the Dr today after 3 weeks of my big toe hurting - remember I landed on it wrong while in Texas on the stairs - well the Dr was just talking telling me how nobody breaks their toe by stepping wrong on it but he would x-ray it just because it had been 3 weeks and it was still red/purple and swollen. He came back in with a whole different tone - my toe was not only broken in one place but as he put it - it was shattered. OK now I know why it still hurts and I can't bend it. I did not see the x-rays but he made some calls and I have to go to the foot Dr in the morning and that Dr has me on crutches which suck (so I don't us them- what is one more day of walking on it!)
I may be in a walking boot for 6 weeks or if it is really bad I may need surgery!!!!!! FOR MY BIG TOE! CRAZY!
I'll let you know more tomorrow. Becareful on those stairs!

Saturday

This weekend has been busy so far. Friday b-day party for a boy in Jaxon's class, saturday morning b-day party and then we went to a parade downtown. KK loved it she was waving and so excited about getting beads. Between the 2 we caught 10 little bears - yes 10 bears that are all the same. Jaxon has a parade Friday at school so he will be throwing those. That is the bad part about the parade having one stuffed toy. But Jaxon did get 2 footballs and Kk got a dog that barks when you touch his belly. They had a blast!
KK is still sleeping in her toddler bed. She wants nothing to do with her crib which is bad at nap time. She yells now when I put her down for her nap so I am going to have to find a way to get her to take a nap. Last week she would wait till we got in the car to go pick of Jaxon. I did decide to keep her at the same MDO next year. The other school I was looking at did not get reviews from people I know who have their kids there. They all said it is not a learning center and they do not do all the fun stuff that BPECC does like skating.
I have been doing a photo class on http://twopeasinabucket.kaboose.com
I have learned a lot. It is a basic SLR class so you should check it out if you want to learn how to take pictures out of the auto mode.

a little update

This has been a busy week!
Katie decided she was going to start sleeping in her toddler bed. We had one set up because Jaxon use to sleep in her room. Well now she is sleeping in it. She is really good when it is bed time she runs in there and lays down. I tell her if she gets up she is going in the crib and we have had no problems. One night she did go visit Jaxon but I told her if she got up again she was going in the crib and since then no problems.
We had the Krewe of Jupiter's parade on Saturday - one of the coldest nights - but we had a great time. My friends watched Katie while Jaxon and I headed downtown with Jerry and Amanda and the girls. Everyone had a great time and we all warmed up once the parade started.
We have rearranged most of the house while Erik has been off work. After 6 months we have also gotten all our stuff from Jerry's house (thank you both for that. Now my extra room off our bedroom is a scrapbook/workout room and I love it!! The loft upstairs has a TV and 2 chairs so we Can send the kids up to play PS2 or watch TV if we need them to go. (which would have been nice during football season). We changed Jaxon's room a little also - just moved some stuff so he can have more room to play.
Our next project is to get pictures up on the walls. I am going to look for frames tomorrow.
I guess that is all for now. I hope everyone is having a great week!

Jupiter Ball

Last night was the annual Krewe of Jupiter Ball and we had a great time!
Once a year we get to go out as a family with friends and no kids and have a great time! This year there was too much drinking for some, too much food, a little dance and lot of fun! The gypsies were there painting faces and bodies again - I love glitter! Here are a few pictures, The girls, the boys, the group and then pictures of my artwork.

Good and Bad

Well this past weekend was full of fun, family and friends and at the same time it was full of hurt and sickness!
I took the kids to Texas Thursday through Sunday
Thursday we meet up with my cousin Peter and his family at the Health Museum in Huston. This was my first time to meet Drew (my Godson)so I was very excited. Dawn and the kids looked great!
Friday I went to IKEA - yes my fave store in Houston - we are almost done putting up everything. And I see I need more things!!
This is when the fun started. Jaxon woke up from his nap with a low fever but that was knocked out with some meds. But that night KK started to throw up. She spit up off and on all night so that was no fun for anyone.
But Saturday everyone seemed fine. We had a fun day just hanging out with the Labauves. Bobby, Hallie, and Maddie got there and we headed over to The Comeaux's house. We played and had great food then we headed to the church for Mass and then the Baptism. Jaxon and KK were so good - I was impressed!
The Baptism was great. Drew was great.
Then we go back to the house and everything was fine till KK threw up. ALL over me!
So end of party for us!
That night was fun after we put Jaxon and KK to sleep.
Then the best part of the weekend - HAHA -
Sunday morning I was walking down the stairs - KK in my arms and Jaxon on the step in front of me when I lost my footing and landed on my big toe! Yes what a crazy thing to happen. I was not able to walk on it till today. It really really hurt!! The best part about it is the ball is Saturday!! I have no idea what I am going to do!!!
So that is the good and the bad of the weekend!
Here is the link to the pictures I took
